Extra Protection that Keeps You in Business.

Product Overview

As a business owner, keeping your business insured is one of the most important financial decisions you can make. But if you don’t have a sufficient amount of coverage, your current policy may not have the extra layer of protection needed for situations that can jeopardize your finances, or even your operations.

With Commercial Umbrella Insurance from Prince Insurance Group, you can protect your business and your assets in the event that your company gets sued in a major lawsuit.

A Commercial Umbrella policy will provide your business with additional coverage should a lawsuit or major accident exceed the limits of your existing, or underlying, General, Auto, or other business liability policy. It can also insure an incident that occurs outside of your coverage territory.

Commercial umbrella policies: what do they cover?

Commercial umbrella policies offer additional coverage for specific liability insurance types. They work to extend your main policies. This is important, as if you do not have any kind of policy to begin with, then a commercial umbrella policy won’t be able to extend it.

Some insurance companies will write an umbrella policy that comes with certain aggregate limits. Such limits can vary between $1 million and $2 million. In such cases, your insurance provider will cover claims, but only as much as that. You’ll need to determine if your umbrella insurance will not cover all liability claims. You’ll also have to find out if it will extend certain liability coverage types.

For example, if your existing accountant is sued for an audit mistake, then professional liability insurance will cover defense expenses. However, if those legal expenses are greater than the policy’s limits, then the commercial umbrella insurance will not pay for the difference.

What does it cost?

The amount of money you’ll need to pay for commercial umbrella coverage will be contingent on the following:

  • The size of your business.
  • The kind of business your company conducts.
  • The underlying coverage amount.

Several industries are vulnerable to more risk than others are, which could potentially raise your commercial umbrella policy’s cost. For example, if you run a construction company, then the umbrella coverage for it might be much higher in comparison to a retail store.
